For many years I have been a devoted listener of your radio show as
well as a viewerwho was disappointed when your TV show disappeared.
Like a tried and true friend I
spent three hours a day at my radio tuned into your show.
I listened to you when you rambled on and on about football -- a sport
I do not particularly like. I listened to you when you changed your
philosophy of “formerly nicotine-stained fingers” to the boring recitation
of the benefits of cigars. No I do not believe in government interference
in the tobacco industry (including the subsidization of tobacco farmers)
but I am growing weary of you endlessly extolling the virtue of smelly
cigars. I listened to you after your visit to Hollywood where you
cavorted with all the wrong people. I did not find it interesting that
you played Monopoly with Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, particularly after I
saw the picture of her jumping on the bed in the Lincoln Bedroom.
However, I was curious to know why you would ever be in their company, a
question you never answered.
I listened to your endless tirades about yourself because I knew that
if you didn’t think highly of your abilities you wouldn’t be where you
are. But I would have liked to heard a lot less of your ego coming
through the air waves.
I listened to your ad hominum arguments against Ross Perot with the
same revulsion I viewed Al Franken’s vacuous book containing personal
attacks against you.
I listened to your insightful comments about the environmentalists, the
women’s movement, and other left-wing propaganda.
I listened to you when, after supporting Buchanan in the 1992 primary,
you viscously attacked him in 1996.
I listened to you when these attacks continued even though he did
what“conservatives” wanted him to do and supported Dole. I did appreciate
your admission that Dole was not the strongest or best candidate.
I listened to you when you supported the 11,000 page NAFTA and the
23,000 page GATT, knowing you had not read either through.
I listened to you when your supporters and listeners were labeled KOOKS
-- by you --because they saw through the agenda of support for globalism
by the Trilateralists, CFR, and Bilderburgers. Saying you disagreed would
have been enough, but you couldn’t let it go. You had to call them names.
I listened frequently as your program became All Bush All The Time.
I listened as you criticized your viewers for sending you “hate”
e-mail. Does honest disagreement with you constitute hate? Don’t you
ever consider the possibility that their emotional notes come from hearts
that feel betrayed by you? Don’t you stop and think that these are the
very people who have listened to you faithfully, read your books, and
subscribe to your newsletter? I stopped listening as your tirade
against Buchanan again became malicious, mean-spirited, and ugly.
Yesterday, I turned on your show -- for old times sake or out of some
sense that you would do what you do best -- inform and entertain
listeners. Unfortunately, my timing was bad -- or perhaps good -- when I
heard you giving comments by the candidates about the withdrawal of
Quayle. I caught your snickering before you even reached Buchanan’s
statement, advising your listeners to “just wait until you hear what is
coming.” And, what part of Buchanan’s statement did you criticize? The
part about Big Money -- you know -- you called it BM, bowel movement. It
was a big joke to you. Didn’t you see what Quayle said? He left because
he could not compete with the outpouring of money into Bush’s campaign.
Don’t you, somewhere in your brain, wonder where the Bush money is coming
from and which special interests a Bush administration will be beholden
to? I guess as long as it is not from BS Barbra Streisand it is OK.
Each year for Christmas, my daughter renews my subscription to the
Limbaugh letter. I have asked her to donate the money instead to the
Buchanan campaign. She told me she will also cancel her subscription. I
know that in the great scheme of your life, our pittance is small, perhaps
even when joined by the others insulted by your sell-out. However, we are
doing our part to distance ourselves from false prophets.
