BUCHANAN ON SOUTH DAKOTA BALLOT
VIENNA,VA -- The Secretary of State of South
Dakota informed the Buchanan campaign yesterday
that the Reform Party of South Dakota will be on
the ballot in the 2000 presidential election.
The Reform Party ballot slot, earned after 6505
signatures were submitted to the office of the
Secretary of State, marks the first time Reform has
ever had its own ballot line in South Dakota. Ross
Perot ran in the state as an independent in his
presidential bids in 1992 and 1996.
“This is an historic achievement” said Buchanan
campaign co-chair Bay Buchanan. “Buchanan
supporters worked day and night gathering
signatures in a large state which can get mighty cold
in the winter. Getting the ballot line for the Reform
Party is key. We are making sure the party is a
permanent force in American politics.”
South Dakota is the second state for which
Buchanan supporters qualified the Reform Party.
Buchanan workers secured a ballot line for the
party in Utah earlier this year.
