BUCHANAN: BACK HELMS AND KILL UN CRIMES COURT
NORTH BRANCH, NJ -- Today, Reform Party Presidential candidate
Patrick J. Buchanan released the following statement:
“Senator Jesse Helms’ proposed law, to end U.S. military aid to any
regime that ratifies the new International War Crimes Tribunal, deserves
the support of every American patriot. For the operating principle of this
permanent UN tribunal is that U.S. Armed Forces must be subordinated
to global discipline and control.
“Like the World Trade Organization, the IMF, and UN, this war crimes
tribunal is an infant institution of World Government. Its advocates see a
day when America herself is brought under global authority, where, under
the one nation-one-vote principle of the General Assembly, U.S.
sovereignty disappears.
“If elected, I will make it a first priority, not to amend this anti-American
treaty establishing this court, but to kill this snake in its cradle. Any
U.S. ally who embraces this court accepts that U.S. troops on its soil
may be arrested and prosecuted without the permission of the President.
Hence, any that support this treaty should be told that, if attacked, to
place a call to Kofi Annan.
“Every American this election year should watch closely which
Congressmen and candidates stand beside Senator Helms, and which
stand with the New World Order of Clinton, Albright, and Strobe Talbott.
Where does Al Gore stand on the UN War Crimes Tribunal? Where
does George W. Bush stand? We have a right to know.”
