BUCHANAN CHARGES: BLACKS "RELEGATED TO SECTION EIGHT HOUSING" IN
CLINTON-GORE CABINET
WASHINGTON, DC --- During a live interview on FOX News
Channel today, Reform Presidential candidate Patrick J.
Buchanan charged that Blacks are "relegated to Section Eight
housing" in the Clinton-Gore Cabinet.
Noting that Blacks have given 90 percent of their votes to
Democrats, Buchanan said that Blacks in the Democratic
Party have never "had a Vice-presidential candidate, they've
never had a Secretary of State in the Democratic
Administration, they've never had a Secretary of Defense or
Secretary of the Treasury or the Attorney General or the head
of the CIA or Trade rep or the National Security Advisor...I think
that's the source of their resentment. It is that Black-
Americans are relegated basically in the [Clinton-Gore] cabinet
to what you might call Section Eight housing -- secondary
cabinet positions which have no influence in the inner core of
an administration."
Responding to an Amsterdam News editorial, which attacked
the selection of Senator Joseph Lieberman as the Democratic
Vice-Presidential nominee by claiming "Jews all over the
world…will be sending bundles of money," Buchanan called
the editorial "nonsense." He noted that it is "against the law" to
make "foreign contributions to presidential elections."
Buchanan praised Lieberman for his "independence, integrity
and courage."
