BUCHANAN TO CLINTON: "AT LONG LAST, SIR, HAVE YOU NO SENSE
OF DECENCY?"
Today, Presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan released the following
statement:
"As parents across America cry aloud for a cleanup of the filth that
Hollywood is dumping into the popular culture, the news that Mr. Clinton
is headed, this weekend, for yet another buck-raking trip to Hollywood, is
astonishing. Is there no sense of decency in this White House?
"That the occupant of the office Harry Truman called 'preeminently a place
of moral leadership,' would exploit this sensitive moment, to solicit cash
from some of the worst polluters and poisoners of America's culture,
reveals a greed that seems almost preternatural.
"Could Mr. Clinton not have let a decent interval pass, after the tragedy
at Columbine High, before rushing to party anew with the nation's
principal purveyors of raw romanticized violence? Seeing Mr. Clinton fly
off on this latest money junket, at this time, gives new meaning to the
word 'crass'."
