BUCHANAN TO BUSH: ARE YOU PRO-LIFE OR NOT?
BOSTON, MASS -- Today, when asked whether he would require that his
Supreme Court nominees be pro-life, Gov. George W. Bush stated,
"There will be no litmus tests, except for whether or not the judges will
strictly interpret the Constitution. I am not a lawyer. My job is to
pick judges who are qualified to serve on the bench and that will be my
criteria."
Presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan said,
"Governor Bush's response is grossly inadequate. After 40 years of liberal
judicial activism, we must have Supreme Court nominees dedicated to
overturning the abomination called Roe v. Wade under which 35 million
unborn children have been done to death. The remaking of the United
States Supreme Court in the images of Justices Scalia, Rehnquist, and
Thomas should be among the highest priorities of the next President."
