BUCHANAN CRUSHES CONSERVATIVE RIVALS WITH STRAW POLL VICTORY
New Hampshire's "Defending Champ" Buchanan
Wins Presidential 2000 Straw Poll
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Republican Presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan
scored a stunning victory today in New Hampshire, winning the July 4th
Presidential 2000 Primary Straw Poll with 58% of the vote. Buchanan
defeated all 12 GOP rivals on the ballot, including Governor George Bush,
Senator Bob Smith, publisher Steve Forbes, and Gary Bauer.
"This straw poll victory positions Pat Buchanan as first choice among New
Hampshire's conservative voters," said Shelly Uscinski, New Hampshire
State Chair for Buchanan 2000. "Voters across the country will rally
behind Pat as the strongest conservative candidate."
Over 1,100 people attended the quadrennial straw poll. According to
organizers at the Presidential 2000 Primary Straw Poll, here are the
