AS 'MAN OF PRINCIPLE'
BATON ROUGE, LA.-- Today, Republican Presidential candidate Patrick J.
Buchanan released the following statement on Senator Bob Smith's decision
to leave the Republican Party:
"Bob Smith is a great conservative, an outstanding U.S. Senator, a man of
principle, and a friend. I both understand and respect his decision and
the thought and anguish that went into it.
"When a man as conservative and principled as Bob Smith walks away from
the Republican Party, perhaps the problem is not with Senator Smith, but
with the Republican Establishment."
