BUCHANAN: DEFICIT LETHAL PROJECTILE TARGETING AMERICAN WORKERS
Today Pat Buchanan released the following statement:
"September's stunning $ 24.4 billion trade deficit is a lethal projectile bearing down on America's superficial prosperity. According to latest figures from the Commerce Department, the American trade shortfall for September has risen a full four percent since August—this despite a surge in farm exports.
"Our China 'trade' makes up $6.9 billion of the shortfall, up a full billion from a year earlier. The latest figures show the overall deficit rate 56 percent higher than last year's—which itself came in at a record $164 billion.
"These figures exact a high human cost: Americans have lost a half million manufacturing jobs since the beginning of 1998. Those who counted on those jobs to support their families have not—you can be sure—been participating in the great banquet taking place on Wall Street.
"Meanwhile the leaders of the two Beltway parties speak in one identical voice—'full speed ahead with globalization' no matter what price paid in shut down factories, loss of decent jobs and growing
deindustrialization of the United States."
