People who act as though they believe themselves to be wiser than God are governing our Republic, which was founded by bible believing Christians. America is like a ship taken over by a crew that disregards the navigational instruments (the word of God). They aimlessly (immorally) sail into rough seas (abortion, STD's, teen pregnancy, school shootings, etc...) with no sense of direction (right and wrong) that will lead the ship to calm waters. When some passengers suggest using the navigational instruments that originally came with the ship they are scorned and told, "Navigational instruments have no place on a ship and must be thrown over board to save us! There must be separation between the two, that is what the builders of this ship intended!"
Luckily some of the passengers had enough sense not to listen and clung tightly to those precious instruments. A man (Patrick J. Buchanan) steps forward and tells the passengers he will sail by using the instruments if made captain. That is where America stands at this moment, with a choice. Will she go back to sailing the way the builders (founding fathers) intended (morally) or continue sailing aimlessly (immorally) in a treacherous sea of sin that threatens to crush her under wave?
This is where the Prayer Brigade comes in. We want to go back to "sailing" the way the builders (founding fathers) intended. So we turn to the navigation instruments (the word of God) for guidance.
How do we get America back on course?
II CHRONICLES 7:14:
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
Americans must humble themselves, seek God, repent and pray. This is the first step to healing our great nation and what the Prayer Brigade is about.
How often should we pray?
I THESSALONIANS 5:16-18:
"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
One of the goals of the Prayer Brigade is to have enough people following the guidance of II Chronicles 7:14 that we can divide the day into 15-30 minutes shifts and have prayer and praise going up to the Father 24 hours per day seven days per week.
If you decide to join the 24-7 Prayer Brigade we will need you to select a time of day that you can give 15-30 minutes to the Lord. Use our 24-7 Prayer Brigade form so we can add you to our schedule. We ask that you discipline yourself and schedule your life around this time, once we get the continuous prayer going we don't want any breaks in it. We want to rejoice evermore and pray without ceasing.
You will receive daily emails of prayer requests. We will also accept prayer requests from you and will email them to our members. We will be keeping a log to track all prayers and will email you when they have been answered. We want to be sure to thank and praise God for all that he does for us.
I pray that after reading this you decide to join our Prayer Brigade. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you and yours.
Lance R. Burke - 24-7 Prayer Brigade Moderator
Note from Linda:
Lance Burke has been a great encouragment to me in setting up the 24-7 Prayer Brigade on our website. He is in the U.S. Airforce and temporarily based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of his jobs for our country was to help coordinate deployments. He has offered to
put that experience to work for the Lord by helping coordinate our 24-7 Prayer Brigade.
If you would like to join the 24-7 Prayer Brigade please fill out our form or send Lance - lance_burke@hotmail.com - an email and he will add you to our membership list.
Here is a lovely note I received from Lance:
I am 25 years old, married and a father of 2 beautiful girls with another
daughter due in early June. I live on Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and have been in the Air Force for 7 years this
April. I am working toward my degree in Religion through Liberty
University. I am separating from the military this August to finish my
degree. My plans are to eventually go into the ministry or some other line
of work for the Lord Jesus. I was the Chairman of our county's Christian
Coalition for the '98 elections and obvious have an interest in politics.
I
dedicated my life to Jesus on 23Sep96 and attend a Baptist Church because of
my beliefs in the Word. Although I am fundamentalist Christian and may not
agree with other denominations on some issues, I believe the most import
thing is faith in the Lord Jesus. If a person accepts Jesus as Lord and
saviour I consider them my brother or sister in Christ.
II Thes. 5:17: "Pray without ceasing."
I think one of the goals of the Prayer Brigade should be having enough
people praying in shifts that the prayers and praise go up to the Lord 24 -
7. In the Air Force they fill commits to Bosnia, Saudi, Kuwait, etc... with
3 month rotations. There is an overlap between the person coming in and the
person going out. With the short rotations and the overlap you keep fresh
people in positions and the position is always filled year round. We can
apply this to our schedule by having people pray only for a short time so it
will not be hard to take the time out of their day and we can overlap
rotations so when one person stops another has already started.
Matt 21:21,22:
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have
faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig
tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thous cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
If we pray for things that would please the Lord in the name of Jesus, He
will answer our prayers. The experts may say that Patrick J. Buchanan
doesn't have a shot but with God all things are possible. America needs to
have her Spiritual eyes reopened. If we accomplish this through prayer, the
choice for president will be clear - Patrick J. Buchanan.
I believe we should keep a log of prayers so we can give thanks to God for
answering us. We need to praise him too. He gives us a comfortable life
and we take that for granted. We need to continually thank the Lord for the
food we eat, air we breath - the basics of life. 24-7 of sincere praise
and worship, I believe, would be a sweet sound in heaven.
Basically what I see is a prayer group that praises the Lord and prays in
the will of the Lord 24-7. Also, it never forgets to thank Him for the
little things and answered prayers.
What do you see the Prayer Brigade as?
