for Coffee and Beignets
Pat and Shelley started out the day with a street car ride from the hotel to the famous Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans French Quarter. The crowds responded warmly when Pat waved and gave his "thumbs up" to the crowds during the trolley ride.
It was a short walk over to the Cafe where Pat greeted and chatted with the patrons. They had a wonderful conversation with Jeffrey Diket, a blind gentleman, who sat down with them for coffee and beignets. Mr. Diket talked about living in the South during the Civil Rights Movement and his Pro-Life Libertarian ideology. Both Pat and Shelley were impressed with his knowledge and enjoyed the delightful discussion about conservative and libertarian politics.
Prayers for the Unborn Later in the morning Pat went to a Pro-Life Pregnancy Center located next to Causeway Medical, an abortion clinic in Metairie, to pray for the Unborn.
Reverend Billy Shanks was our host and Pat said prayers for the unborn. There were a lot of people praying and participating in the peaceful protest and all appreciated Pat coming by and standing with them for Life.
Batons, Banners, and Brigades at the American Legion Hall! Tonight the American Legion Hall was festooned with flags, banners, and best of all -- a sell-out crowd of Buchanan Brigades!
Mike Griffith drove 12 hours from San Angelo, Texas to meet Pat Buchanan. Mr. Griffith said, "I was very, very inspired by the speech!". He said, "I enjoyed the whole thing. Pat Buchanan talks from the heart, he's honest and he talks about the issues I am concerned about - sovereignty, trade, immigration, Life - these are the issues that Bush and Gore won't talk about".
Pat gave a great speech and everyone in the Hall was energized and ready to join him in the battle. We won the hearts of Louisiana in 1996 and now in 2000, Cajun Country has fallen in love with Pat all over again!
